A long-time student of Ravi Shankar, and creator of the Mohan Veena, Pandit VM Bhatt has mesmerized the world with his dazzling musicality, virtuosity and bewildering command over the famous instrument that bears his name. In 1994, Bhatt won a Grammy Award with Ry Cooder for their World Music Album, “A Meeting by the River”. It established him as a star performer, and acknowledged him as an innovator and a soulful composer. With blinding speed and faultless legato, Bhatt is undoubtedly one of the expressive, versatile and greatest slide players in the world. He is a mentor/teacher to blues/folk virtuoso Harry Manx, who himself has taken the Mohan Veena to the concert stages and music festivals of the world. Bhatt will be featured with his son Salil and Ramkumar Mishra.
