The Alternative and Integrative Medical Society (AIMS) of UBC is pleased to announce its eighth annual conference, “The Environment and its Impact on Health and Healing”, to be held on March 17th, 2007 at the UBC Forest Sciences Centre (2424 Main Mall) in Vancouver. The scope of the conference will cover both human and environmental stress, how it affects us, and what we can do about it. Scientists, health care professionals and other experts in the field of environmental health research will come together to share the latest research and strategies in advancing public environmental health. Their views will be presented from an integrative, complementary and alternative medicine (ICAM) perspective while maintaining scientific principals and an unbiased, evidence-based quality. Topics to be covered may include (but are not exclusive to): toxicity and contaminants in our diet, the effects of pollution on our health, environmental stress, food and water protection, women’s & pre-natal health and the environment, food and water protection, and healthy homes. The conference format will involve lectures with question-and-answer sessions, a variety of breakout sessions, as well as a gallery of poster presentations on the latest environmental health research from scientists and academics across Canada. Register early as seats for this event are limited. Fee includes: nutritious breakfast, lunch and snacks as well as conference syllabus materials.
