PUBLIC LECTURE with Caroline Markolin, Ph.D.
Together with an introduction into German New Medicine (GNM), this public lecture presents the discoveries of medical doctor Ryke Geerd Hamer, M.D., of the correlation between the emotional distress of ABANDONMENT and the development of certain kidney disorders, such as KIDNEY CANCER. Tied into the context of our evolution, GNM offers a new understanding of (sudden) WEIGHT GAIN – or difficulties losing weight - as being a natural biological response to feeling “like a fish out of water”. Dr. Hamer’s discoveries also explain why WATER RETENTION – as a result of an “existence conflict” or “hospitalization conflict” - can cause serious medical complications. LEARNING GNM EARLY IS YOUR ULTIMATE PREVENTIVE MEDICINE.

Healthcare 911: The Plight of Immigrant Medical Doctors
Monday, April 28 at 9 pm
It's no secret that Canada is in a health care crisis. With more and more layoffs, closed clinics and wards, and hospital overcrowdings, Canada is falling fast from its reputation as one of the best health care systems in the world – the public, in turn, is suffering. Hiding in our cities is part of the solution – immigrant medical doctors ready and willing to work. Some boasting years and years of specialization and practice in foreign countries, they are now filling menial, minimum-wage jobs instead of the role of doctors. Set against the backdrop of Canada's ailing health care system, Healthcare 911 profiles several of these foreign trained medical doctors trying desperately to get their credentials recognized and begin work in Canada as doctors. Their stories are told through the eyes of immigrant filmmaker Jiyar Gol, as he goes head to head with the College of Physicians and Surgeons and BC's Minister of Health looking for answers.

FROM GRIEF TO ACTION
Monday, May 19 at 10 pm on Knowledge Network
In this moving documentary, viewers follow the lives of four middle class Vancouver families. The parents are intelligent, loving, resourceful, and they share an unexpected tribulation – their children are addicted to heroin. As they deal with the trauma of trying to keep their addicted children alive and in treatment, the parents join together, founding a group called From Grief to Action. Knowing that the relapse rates for opiate-dependent users is 80 percent, the families live in hope – for their own children, and for others. This award-winning documentary shatters the stereotype that drug addicts come from backgrounds of poverty and that children from loving, comfortable homes are immune.
