FROM GRIEF TO ACTION Monday, May 19 at 10 pm on Knowledge Network In this moving documentary, viewers follow the lives of four middle class Vancouver families. The parents are intelligent, loving, resourceful, and they share an unexpected tribulation – their children are addicted to heroin. As they deal with the trauma of trying to keep their addicted children alive and in treatment, the parents join together, founding a group called From Grief to Action. Knowing that the relapse rates for opiate-dependent users is 80 percent, the families live in hope – for their own children, and for others. This award-winning documentary shatters the stereotype that drug addicts come from backgrounds of poverty and that children from loving, comfortable homes are immune.

In every system of traditional medicine, digestion is lauded as the cornerstone of health, exemplified by the common-sense axiom “you are what you eat.” Every physical component of our bodies is derived from our daily sustenance, and just as the quality of a building is only as good as the materials that are used to build it, a diet which provides an optimal range of nutrients is the foundation upon which the body recreates itself each day. This class will provide you with a profound yet simple method to promote good digestive health, considering not only nutrition, but other important factors to such as the mind and emotions, the body's ecology and lifestyle habits.

The liver is a vitally important organ that performs many different functions, simultaneously filtering and directing incoming nutrients while processing outgoing wastes, as well as participating in the production of a myriad number of regulatory substances that are essential for health. In many ways, the liver can be thought of as an alchemist: separating, purifying, rendering, and distilling the very essence of our being. This class will cover the basic functions of the hepatobiliary system, viewed from both a medical and energetic perspective, and why things go wrong the way they do. Useful information will be presented on how to establish and support liver and gall bladder using the wisdom of traditional medicine.
