Cadence is an art exhibition of the works of Colleen Keith, a Capilano University IDEA student, at The Naam Restaurant in Kitsilano. The show will run for six weeks and is her first solo art show. The artist will be in attendance at The Naam on February 25th from 8pm to 11pm as an opportunity for diners to meet her and view the artwork. All pieces displayed are custom framed and for sale at prices ranging from $125 to $700. The exhibit features 13 pieces in ink and watercolor of original artworks that feature some iconic women and the flurry of organic shapes, lines, and colors they inspire. Full of contrasting graphic forms in varying textures and colors, there is an energetic movement to the elements that make them fun and confident in their flow. Cadence is Colleen’s first solo exhibit that she has been working towards over the last year. Her work has also been shown in the West Vancouver’s Harmony Arts Festival, the North Vancouver Arts Council’s Anonymous Art Show, and the Capilano University IDEA (Illustration & Design) program’s group show at Subeez Cafe in downtown Vancouver from September 2009 to January 2010. Current and past works can be seen on her blog. www.colleenkeith.blogspot.com Colleen, born in Richmond in 1986, has created art in various forms and mediums since she could pick up a crayon. She began her professional road in high school using everything from paint, silk screen, and ceramics to photography and 3D software. Despite her passion, a focus to one discipline eluded her. She spent two years at Langara College in the Display&Design program discovering graphic design, and went on to work at various independant design firms and magazines in Vancouver. Colleen’s continuing thirst for more has now brought her to the IDEA program where she is developing new inspiring approaches and ideas. The upcoming display is the culmination of these years of honing her style and developing her skills. |
