Your doula will be accompanying you in one of the most meaningful and intimate moments of your life, so it is import to find the right one for you. Browsing through websites can be confusing and interviewing multiple doulas can be very time-consuming.

When I first meet clients, one thing that I tell them in the interview is that, all other things being equal, they should go with their gut when choosing a doula. Doula Speed Dating offers parents an opportunity to meet several doulas in one night and get that “good gut feeling” with several doulas whom they can then arrange to interview at length.

Aimée Sturley of Adar Birth Services and The Midwifery Group are hosting Vancouver’s only Doula Speed Dating!

When: Thurs, Jan 21st 2010 at 7pm
Where: The Midwifery Group (3980 Main Street @ 23rd Ave)
Cost: Free (Donations gratefully accepted for Shanti Uganda’s Birth House.)

Doula Speed Dating gives parents the opportunity to meet 8-10 doulas in a number of mini-interviews so they can easily narrow their doula search to 2-3 top choices.

Parents who use doulas:
* -Are less likely to experience postpartum depression
* -Tend to have shorter births
* -Are more likely to have an easier time breastfeeding
* -Are less likely to need medical intervention
* -Feel more satisfied with their birth experience regardless of the outcome
