FROM GRIEF TO ACTION In this moving documentary, viewers follow the lives of four middle class Vancouver families. The parents are intelligent, loving, resourceful, and they share an unexpected tribulation – their children are addicted to heroin. As they deal with the trauma of trying to keep their addicted children alive and in treatment, the parents join together, founding a group called From Grief to Action. Knowing that the relapse rates for opiate-dependent users is 80 percent, the families live in hope – for their own children, and for others. This award-winning documentary shatters the stereotype that drug addicts come from backgrounds of poverty and that children from loving, comfortable homes are immune. |
