After 22 years of award-winning leadership and great musical friendship, Diane Loomer is stepping aside as co-conductor of Elektra and handing over the reins to co-conductor, Morna Edmundson. At the end of the 2008/2009 season Ms. Loomer will be appointed to the position of Conductor Emeritus of Elektra. Ms. Edmundson will be appointed Artistic Director of the ensemble. This transition will be honoured at From the Heart, a concert hosted by Shelagh Rogers on Sunday, May 31, 2009.

Diane feels this is a propitious time to step down as co-conductor of Elektra because the choir is so strongly positioned in a leadership role within the choral community. Ms. Loomer will maintain a continuing warm relationship with Elektra while allowing her to pursue other artistic ventures as she leads Chor Leoni Men’s Choir, EnChor (her new, 'old choir') and continues to accept invitations to conduct, adjudicate, and teach around the world.
