On October 24, 2009, Bridge to a Cool Planet will hold an exciting open-air community gathering that aims to build a cross-cultural movement to affect federal policy on climate change. The event will bring people together based on creative self-expression, common interests, public performance, education, envisioning our future and advocacy. It is a chance for everyone in Vancouver to come together and send a powerful message to Ottawa: Canada must be a world leader in climate action because it is the defining crisis of our times that will affect all our children and future generations to come. Bridge to a Cool Planet is a family-oriented celebration of what we can achieve if we work together to solve the biggest problem of our time. The climate talks taking place in Copenhagen this December are crucial. At the talks, world leaders must come to an agreement on an international treaty to stop global warming. Canada must play a strong leadership role in these talks, and events like Bridge to a Cool Planet are key in mobilizing the public to call for action. There is an exciting schedule of events and they are all FREE! Public Gathering on the northbound side of the Cambie Bridge. Music, Parade off the bridge, onto Pacific Boulevard and around the North At Science World -- performance, advocacy, workshops, an eco-village Inspirational Speakers and Movies at Christ Church Cathedral. *Note: All street and bridge closures have the full support of the City of Vancouver Find out more at: www.bridgecoolplanet.ca Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bridge-to-a-Cool-Planet/120501265796 Twitter: @b2cp |
