One of the biggest flamenco events of the year coming direct from Sevilla in September to Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton. This event is brought to you by Peña Bulería Flamenco Club and Annette Morcos Productions! Artistic director Cristina Hall and award winning dancer has created "El Sonido del Silencio" - an encounter between flamenco's past and present. The performance will take you back in time to experience what it was like in the 18th century "Cafe Cantantes" (gathering places where drinks and flamenco recitals were offered). They will explore voices from the past and thus comprehend how their emotive energy has inspired and affected the dance, the guitar, and the singing as we experience and live them today. Featured artists of the show are Cristina Hall, a powerful and musical dancer who has shared the stage with great dancers of Spain, such as Israel Galvan, Domingo Ortega and Manuel de la Malena. She has also toured extensively in Europe and North America. She is accompanied by guitarist, Manuel Alejandro Montero who has won two Sabicas competitions in Murcia Spain and singer David de Alcala whose singing career has found him on stage along side masters such as Calixto Sanchez, Fernando de la Malena and Jose de la Tomasa. Also performing is singer and producer Pirouz de Caspio from Vancouver who has also toured extensively in Canada as well as San Francisco and Berkeley California. He is also the founder of www.flamenco.ca and Peña Bulería Flamenco Club. Annette Morcos of Calgary, who is co-producing this event with Pirouz, will be joining the troupe as the second dancer. This concert series will be accompanied by scheduled workshops offered by Cristina Hall September 3, 4, 6 & 7.
